The hat known today as the Panama hat was produced in Ecuador in the seventeenth century and still today all hand woven as you can see in these photos

 

It get’s it’s name Panama from it being the first place that the Ecuadorians distributed their hats to  Isthmus of Panama and in 1834 the name Panama hats was born before they got distributed throughout Asia USA and now all of Europe
The straw in Panama hats comes from the plaited leaves of the Carludovica Palmata or "paja toquilla", a type of palm indigenous to Ecuador.

 Panama hats are light-colored, lightweight, and breathable, and often worn as accessories to summer-weight suits, such as those made of linen or silk. Beginning around the turn of the 20th century, panamas began to be associated with the seaside and tropical locales
Many companies have jumped on the band wagon in recent years which now sport the hat in their stores direct from Montecristi, but Panama hats are not the only hat produced now, fur felt hats like these

Montecristi Golf Resort Manabi

This  project  is for residential  properties, land, and an 18 hole Golf Course and clubhouse complex, designed by French Arc hitect Christian Pensu who specialises in this sector you can follow him here

The golf course, has an area of ​​47 hectares, the whole complex being  250 hectares. "It will be the best course in Ecuador." It is costing more than $ 3.5 million, a price increase to $ 7 million to other ratings that will be incorporated. "It's a 100% domestic investment"

The project includes tennis and football pitches, swimming pools, a 200-room hotel and a residential community with 1,200 homes.

In the second phase, studies are being conducted for the construction of a two-story hotel that will sport 200 rooms. And that includes individual housing complexes in batches of 700 meters... 
The project includes the organization of golf tournaments with the participation of national and international athletes.

This house is allot smaller to the previous house it is ideal for single or couples just starting out, but families are also included in this property, like i said the houses shown will provide you with instant residence as you are meeting the minimum requirement! these are model houses driveways etc are all to be completed, but you get the idea!

As mentioned previously i recommend buying a house in a gated community unless you are prepared to buy land and get a house built to your requirements  if you are considering moving to Ecuador and are after residence these houses can give you instant residence for a single person or family etc ie 25 grand is the minum requirement from the Ecuadorian government,investing into the country plenty of opportunity here to do this!
For example I have came across this project in Portoviejo in Manabi called San Gregorio located a few minutes away from the San Gregorio university direct commuting route  to manta and of course Portoviejo itself. It is an up and coming project, will be sporting a swimming pool for residents park for children and also sports facilities ,This project seems to be quite a  popular company originally based in Guayaquil and have completed many projects over the years, first one in manabi i think!
The staff are great some speak English which helps and if you want the houses to be custom made extensions extra rooms etc this can be all worked out there by directly speaking with the architect  ,for more information in spanish or english contact JessicaGarcia  at jessi23g@hotmail.com   and she will answer any questions that you may have.

There are 4 models being built here, but i have information on the biggest house 2 floors at 103m2 priced at 59,900 dollars about 36k in brittish pounds and the smaller 1 floor house at 42 m2 priced at 37,000 dollars
